This volume was a disappointment to me. All the drama with Hannah's dad I didn't like. I finished the violence and cussing and funny lines. Then. Found out that Rat Queens is now only a web comic. Sigh. Hopefully they'll still publish volumes of it. Bummer.
Issue 11 starts with Hannah's dad and the girls being locked up by goblins. Betty's attitude is funny. The girls head off to the University to help Hannah's father and the issue ends with Betty in trouble. Issue 12 the girls find trouble in a dank cave. A more serious issue. chapter 13 is disjointed and all over the place. The girls are at Mage University and each are doing there own thing. Chapter 14. Betty and violet meet Daniel the dragon and it's very funny. There's some really boring stuff with Hannah and her mother. Dee finds out stuff about Hannah's past and is rather upset.

“Getting stabby with some Gobbos”
I purchased this via Kickstarter. Hardback. The book is physically gorgeous. Great cover and the pages are silky. The story takes place in Fablewood which is home to all stories that ever been told. I love the references to other nursery rimes. I love the art. 5 stars for art. The puns are fun. That being said the story was only so so and got confusing at the end. It also dragged on and on. 3 stars for story. I guess that would give this a 4 star rating but that seems to high. 3.5 stars it is. I really wish I had liked this more especially since I waited so long to get this book.
Chapter 1 humpty dumpy is pushed off a wall in the city of Rimes. Frankie is investigating. Frankie is a detective from a pulp story who crossed over to the nursery rhyme (or Rime) division. At the end of chapter 1, someone drops a house on a wicked witch and its up to Frankie to investigate. Chapter 2- Humpty Dumpty is being set up for killing the witch. Chapter 3- the plot thickens. All hell breaks loose when simple Simon misunderstands something Frankie says. Chapter 4 Frankie gets set up. I hate stuff like that. It makes me anxious. In chapter 5 we learn who has been manipulating everyone. But it's a very confusing chapter. Chapter 6 ties everything up but I didn't finish it because I felt like it was going on and on and wouldn't end.
5 Stars, Buy it
Overall, extremely good. This was all a reread for me to get back into the story line. Art fantastic, story fantastic. Great comic series you really need to read. But you must like cussing, nudity and violence.
Chapter or issue 6 definitely has some plot twists. No really funny lines in this issue but the writing is still wonderful. We learn more about Dee. Issue 7: We find more out about Dee who up to this point has been pretty mysterious. As of this point Sawyer is still alive but getting torchured. There is nudity and cursing as per usual. Issue 8: In which we finally get to see Violet’s beard. Most of this issue is a flashback, but we learn more about Violet. Issue 9:Hannas has a flashback to her mother like Violet’s flashback included her mother. Part of this issue was confusing, though it was on purpose. Everyone rallies to rescue Sawyer. Issue 10: This issue starts with a flashback to Hannah’s university days when she meets Tizzie who is part of another mercenary band. More fighting to rescue Sawyer and more flashbacks. Of course everything ends happily but then at the very end there is a bit of cliffhanger.

Coming back to reading has given me an excuse to reread my favorites. This is just as awesome as volume 1.
I'm swamped at work and having to do overtime so I don't have much time to read right now. But so far, this is promising to be as good as the others in the series.
5 Stars
I’ve already reviewed this before for Netgalley. But as I’ve been away from reading for awhile, I’m reading the collected volumes again to get back into the story line again. (I’m probably going to do this for a couple of series I really liked). I still love, love, love all the cursing. I’m a woman who curses so I love seeing other woman curse. My favorite characters are still Betty and Hannah. I love how the woman love sex and aren’t labeled whores. Some of the quotes still absolutely kill me. Have I mentioned there is tons of violence? But I don’t mind it. This series absolutely kicks some major butt.
“Hannah. I’m an inch from conjuring a thorn bush into your asshole”
“Let’s get Stabby!”
“No one calls my friends cunts but me!”
Though my reviews won't be as fast as they were before I got sick because now I drive to work and won't have time to read as much.
It starts a bit oddly like dropping you in the middle of the story. Turns out it's a dream. It's hard to have been away from reviewing books for a year.Ive forgotten series I knew so well. This one I couldn't remember where I had left off. I of course love the talking cat still. I love that Cleopatra is a strong young female character. I love how she sneaks in a rug to the city- a reference to how she sneaks in to Mark Anthony's room. Or was it Caesar? I love the artwork, it's very consistent. I love all the aliens artwork. The art and overall concept gets 5 stars.
The story I'm not so sure about it. I find it confusing but it could be because it's been so long since I've read it. I could have used a refresher. The story does have a dark side which I wasn't expecting. And this issue definitely furthered things along. However it was still confusing so I give the story 3 stars. I'll give the issue 4 stars. When the next issue comes out I'll have to go back and reread them all.
So I haven't been reading for almost a year due to my bad depression. Are there any great new teen fantasy or adult fantasy novels or series out that I should read while waiting for Samantha Shannon's new book?? (In between Harry Potter books of course). Missed you all by the way!!
So as most people know, I’ve basically stopped reading for a long time due to a bad relapse of my depression. I tried once to get back to it but the books didn’t do it for me so I stopped. Maybe I just wasn’t ready yet. Now I’m trying to get back to it again, this time trying for a book that I can relate to right now which is mental illness (written before i really got deep into the book).
I like how there is no long drawn out wait for the big horrific moment the book is about. I like how the chapters are short which is good for trying to get back into reading. What amazes me about this author is how long it takes her to get her child into therapy. I'm not trying to be judgmental but seriously, the child needed help. I understand the money issues all too well because of my own mental health issues but I don't think that is what that kept the mother from seeking help earlier.
overall this is a good book. There's a bit too much psychobabble and history of the mother. The ending is a bit of a let down because there is no ending. I'm dying to know what happens to Sophie but I guess there is no ending yet. A good book on mental illness. Makes me want to go back and reread Prozac Nation and others and review them.
I'm tryin to read but not much time. I want to read but I'm struggling badly still. I miss everyone
I don't know if it's because I"m still depressed or not, but having a little bit of a hard time with this. AT first I was definitely interested but now with Darrow home and all of the military talk I'm a bit bored. I'm going to plow forward and hope it's just this part because I don't want my first book back to be an abandoned. I do however have a book to read next though. LOL
