4 Stars Borrow
This is another animal I find really awesome but don’t know much about nor have a story to tell about meeting one though I always thought it be neat to see a porcupine in the wild. The baby porcupine pictures are really cute. This is one of the better ones in the series. I don’t think any of the pictures were pixelated or blurry. It was strong on facts too. I say borrow these books because none of them are really worth owning. I got them mostly for free when Amazon was giving them away for free.
Did you know?
Porcupines are Africa’s largest rodents.
Porcupines have more than 30,000 needle like quills (OUCH!!!!)
The quills on porcupines are actually specialized hairs
Porcupine quills do not contain poison (um does anyone really think they do???)
Baby porcupines are born with soft spines that harden within an hour of being born. (I was wondering about the birth! That could really hurt a mother!)
Muscles attached to the quills allow the porcupine to raise and lower the quills.
Porcupines can release an odor when threatened.
Baby porcupines are called porcupettes (how freaking cute is that???!!!)
