I bought this on a recommendation from a friend so I had high hopes for this. Unfortunately they fell flat. I finished the book because I wanted to know what happened and I liked the characters. However I found the writing to be substandard, especially when compared to Charles de Lint, my favorite Urban Fantasy writer. I give this a 3 star rating.
I did love the name Tick-Tick for an elf, and was disappointed that they killed her off. I liked Orient well enough but for some reason kept forgetting he was male. The general idea behind the story was good, and the ending of the story was good but the overall writing let me down a lot. Not bad, but it needed editing or a better writer.
